How does the weekly curriculum work?

Can I use the curriculum without the mobile app?

Yes. Everything is fully accessible through the web platform. The mobile app adds reminders, streak tracking and family connection but it is completely optional. You can run the full curriculum from a desktop browser.

How do I invite other teachers at my school?

Go to Settings → School → Invite Staff. Share the invite link or send individual email invites. Staff get access the moment they accept. Whole-school licences cover unlimited teachers. There is no extra charge per person.

How do I mark a lesson as taught and rate it?

Open the lesson and click Mark as taught. You'll be asked for a quick rating: Fire (loved it), Worked (did the job), Meh (fine) or Flop (didn't land). Ratings are private to you and help us improve the curriculum over time.

Open the Lesson Plan Builder from the dashboard sidebar. Drag activities from your curriculum into the weekly grid, add your own notes, then save. You can share directly with co-teachers via a link or print as a formatted PDF.

Yes. Every saved plan gets a shareable link. Anyone with a School of Play login and the link can view it. This works well for planning with co-teachers, sharing with a coordinator, or handing over to a relieving teacher.

From any curriculum week or lesson, click the Print icon. You can print a single lesson, a full week, or a term's worth as a formatted booklet. The printed version removes navigation and formats cleanly for A4 paper.

Can I add my own notes to lessons?

Yes. Every lesson has a private notes field only you can see. Use it to jot how the activity went, which students engaged well, or what to change next time. Notes save automatically.

What does the AI Assistant do?

The AI Assistant recommends activities from your curriculum based on what you describe. Type how your class is feeling ("restless after lunch") or what you want to achieve ("something that builds connection before a test") and it suggests the best matching lessons from your unlocked content.

Is it private? Does it send data anywhere?

Yes, completely private. The assistant runs locally using your curriculum index. It does not send your queries to any external AI service. Your class descriptions and search terms never leave your device.

Why is it not finding what I am looking for?

The assistant only searches your unlocked curriculum. If you have a Years 3–4 licence it won't suggest Secondary activities. Try being more specific ("gratitude activity for Monday morning") or browse directly in the Curriculum tab.

Videos are hosted on Vimeo. Common fixes: disable browser extensions (especially ad blockers), check your school network does not block Vimeo (IT may need to whitelist vimeo.com), try a different browser, or use the downloadable PDF version which does not need video.

Content is missing or looks wrong after upgrading

Membership changes can take up to 5 minutes to sync. Log out and back in after upgrading. If access is still wrong after 10 minutes, email support@theschoolofplay.co with your account email and what you expect to see.

Force-close and reopen the app. Check for an update in the App Store or Google Play. We release fixes weekly. If the problem continues, delete and reinstall. The app caches 7 days of content offline so reinstalling will not lose your progress.

FamilyBreak is a screen-time goal tool included with Family Membership. Children earn screen time by completing play activities. You set the rules (e.g. "30 minutes of play = 30 minutes of screen time"). It reframes screen-time conversations from a battle into a game.

No. There is no analytics on individual children, no behavioural tracking and no third-party advertising. We collect anonymous usage data to improve the app (crash reports, feature usage) but nothing is tied to your children's identities.

Go to Account → Membership → Manage and cancel anytime, no questions, no retention tricks. You keep access until the end of your billing period. You can rejoin anytime and your history is preserved.

Check your device meets the requirements: iOS 15+ or Android 11+. If the app installed but will not open, force-close it and try again. If still stuck, delete and reinstall from the App Store or Google Play. Your account and streak are saved in the cloud.

I am not seeing Family Membership content after subscribing

Log out of the app fully and log back in. This refreshes your membership status. If content is still locked after logging back in, email support@theschoolofplay.co with your account email.

My streak reset. Can it be restored?

Streaks reset if you miss logging the PEGG for a day. We cannot manually restore streaks as they are designed to reflect genuine daily practice. If you believe it reset due to a technical error, email us and we will investigate.

I forgot my password

On the login screen tap "Forgot password" and enter your email. You will get a reset link within a couple of minutes. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive. If your email is not recognised, you may have signed up with a different address.

How do we roll out School of Play across the whole school?

We recommend a 30-day rollout: Week 1, leadership endorses the program and the subscription is activated. Week 2, champion teachers run first lessons and share wins in the Staff Room. Week 3, whole-staff briefing with a 15-minute intro (we can join via video). Week 4, daily ritual begins across all classrooms. From here it runs itself. How do I invite all my staff at once?

Go to Settings → School → Invite Staff. Upload a CSV of email addresses or share a sign-up link. Staff get an email invitation, create their own login, and are immediately linked to your school subscription. There is no per-teacher setup. The platform handles it.
