The honest version

What if my kids don't like it?

Most kids don't throw confetti when you put down a phone. Here's the realistic three-week arc most families ride, and what to do at each stage.

Week 1

Skeptical

Your kid will probably roll their eyes. The first prompt feels weird, like trying to use a board game on a screens-native generation.

Tip: Do it yourself first. Adults answer the prompt in front of them. Vulnerability is contagious.

Week 2

Curious

Some kids start asking what the mission is. Others stay quiet but stick around when you read it. The household rhythm starts to settle.

Tip: Pick the prompt that fits the day. Tired Tuesday? Skip the mission, do a 60-second laugh game. Show that the system bends to fit your life.

Week 3

Bought in

Your kid asks for the mission before you remember. You overhear them telling a friend about it. The streak becomes a thing the family quietly defends.

Tip: Don't over-celebrate. Just keep showing up. The compounding is the point.

A real parent · honest

“My 13-year-old wasn't sold at first. She'd call it cringe and walk off. Three weeks in she was the one who'd remember the mission and ask if we were doing it. The streak was ours. I didn't see that coming.”

Kate H., Parent of two · Melbourne
Three plays for the eye-roll moment.

Lead with you

Adult answers the prompt out loud first. Always.

Drop the streak

Skip a day. Skip a week. The point is showing up next, not the streak count.

Move it

Try the mission in the car, on the walk, at dinner. Pick the moment your kid is least defended.

“My kids ask for the play missions before bedtime. We have replaced screens with belly laughs.”

Hannah K., Parent of two · Brisbane
How we compare

A real alternative to the scroll.

Most family apps are screen-time managers, sticker charts or chore trackers. The School of Play replaces the scroll with something that brings everyone closer.

Family FAQ

Quick answers for parents.

Can't find what you're looking for? Drop us a line and we'll get back to you within one business day.

Real answers, real humans. No bots, no run-arounds.

01 How much time per day does it actually take?+

Five minutes is the minimum. Most families do a quick mission at breakfast and a longer game once or twice a week. The whole point is that it slots into the life you already have.

02 What ages does it work for?+

From toddlers to teens. The library is sorted by age range and number of players, so you can pull up something appropriate in seconds.

03 Is the app safe for kids to use?+

Yes. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no chat features and no data harvesting.

04 What does Family Membership unlock vs the free app?+

The free app gives you today's mission, a daily PEGG prompt and one free game per day. Membership unlocks the full library of 100+ games, weekly challenges, parent guides and the printable Family Adventure Kit.

05 Can I cancel any time?+

Yes, cancel from your account in two clicks. Anything you have unlocked stays unlocked for the duration of your billing period.

06 How is it different from screen-time apps?+

Screen-time apps are about limiting. We're about replacing, giving you a five-minute alternative that's actually more fun than the scroll. Together, they work brilliantly.
