DriveQuest is made by The School of Play. It helps a learner driver and their family log practice drives and stay connected. This policy explains what the app collects, how your location and drive logs are used, and how your family stays in control.
DriveQuest helps a learner driver and their family log practice drives, track progress and stay connected. To do that, the app records the drives you choose to log, including your route and the time of day, and syncs them so the people in your household can see them. Your photos and voice memos never leave your device. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not use third-party trackers. This policy explains exactly what we collect and why.
Location is central to how DriveQuest works, so we want to be clear about it. When you record a drive, the app collects precise location data to map your route, measure distance and duration, and tell whether the drive happened during daytime or night hours (which many licensing logbooks require you to record separately). It also uses a “home base” location you set so the app can recognise familiar trips. Location is only collected while you are actively recording a drive. DriveQuest does not track your location in the background or when you are not logging a drive. The routes you record are saved to your account and shared with the members of your household so a supervising driver or parent can review them.
DriveQuest is built for a household to use together. When you join or create a household, the drive logs, progress, letters and notes that members choose to share become visible to the other members of that household. For example, a parent or supervising driver can review a learner’s drives and sign off on progress. You control what you record and add. Photos and voice memos are the exception: they remain private to your own device and are not shared.
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the app. They process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms:
You can create your DriveQuest account using Sign in with Apple. When you do, Apple shares your name and an email address with us so we can create and secure your account. If you choose Apple’s “Hide My Email” option, we only ever see Apple’s private relay address, not your real email. Your use of Sign in with Apple is also governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
DriveQuest is designed for learner drivers, who are often 16 or 17, using the app together with a parent, guardian or supervising driver as part of a household. The subscription and household are set up and controlled by an adult in the family. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13, and DriveQuest is not directed at young children. Where a learner is under 18, we rely on the parent or guardian who owns the household account to consent to and oversee the learner’s use of the app. If you are a parent or guardian and want to review or delete a learner’s data, contact us at the address below.
DriveQuest offers an optional subscription. All purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment card details. Apple processes the transaction and shares with us (via RevenueCat) only the information needed to confirm your subscription status. Apple’s handling of your purchase is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
We use the information above only to provide and improve DriveQuest: to record and display your drives and progress, to sync data across your household, to classify day and night driving, to confirm your subscription, to secure your account, and to respond to your support requests. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with data brokers.
You can edit or delete individual drives and content inside the app. You can delete your account, which removes your personal data and drive logs from our synced storage. Deleting the app from your device also removes the photos and voice memos held locally on that device. If you would like us to delete your data for you, email us and we will action it. Some records may be retained for a limited period where required to comply with legal, tax or fraud-prevention obligations.
Data synced through Firebase is protected in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption, and access is restricted to your household and to the systems that run the app. No method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
If we change how DriveQuest handles information, we will update this policy and the “last updated” date below, and reflect significant changes within the app.
